The other main equipment of a football player is the shoe. These are specialist shoes, whose design allow them to grip the sand used in most football fields. No other shoe will fit into the rigorous nature that playing football subjects them to. Fortunately, there are a lot of football shoes – also known as turf shoes – produced by the leading brands of sports shoe manufacturers that you can find in your local department store. Although they may be expensive, it is recommended to buy these as they are of sturdy quality, and some are even designed by former players of the game. The lifetime of service these shoes afford you is worth the investment.

Other basic equipment used in football would include the football socks, which are distinguished for being longer than usual. Lower body gear, aside from the socks and the shin pads, would include the shirt. The team captain is also required to wear an elastic armband purely for identification purposes: aside from identifying the captain, it has no specific function in the game or for protecting the player.
