First, it builds up endurance and lung capacity. It is no easy feat to run across a wide field just chasing or holding on to the ball with your feet and legs. It is no feat either to defend it from those that would want to take it from your possession. All the while you need to have the air needed in your lungs so that you won’t run out of breath while running around.

Second, it builds up strength in the legs. There is a variety of kicking used in soccer, and you need to have enough leg strength in order to kick the ball to the distance you want it to reach. You develop excellent muscle and strength as well, which results into refined force not brute force.
